Reviewer's Guide

for Space Girl Red by R. A. Davis

Special Requests:

Given almost all of the characters in this book are female, I’ve discovered people react differently if they know the author is male. So I’m using the time-honored tradition of science fiction writers trying to hide their gender and using my initials.

  1. In your review please don’t use my first name. The books author is R.A. Davis.
  2. Don’t mention I’m male. I wrote my bio on the website using They/Them. I won’t be able to keep my sex a secret forever, but on the amazon page I’d like to keep it ambiguous.
  3. If you are going to spoil something in the story, please start your Review with “SPOILER ALERT”

Firstly, Thank You.

Reviews are the lifeblood of a book on Amazon, especially one from a new author that isn’t published by a big publishing house. Your willingness to write a, hopefully, positive review will make a big difference in the reach of the book to others on Amazon.

If you are a Kindle Unlimited member.

If you check the book out of KU before you review it, the review will show as a verified purchase.

You don’t have to buy the book to review it.

Since you’ll be downloading the actual book below, you don’t have to buy it, but if you choose to your review will be marked as a verified purchase, which adds some weight to people who see it.

I’ll have a gift for you.

I am having Space Girl Challenge coins made and am giving them as recognition for those who help me in this release.  Probably won’t have them till March, but I’ll be sending everyone who reviews the book.

New Reviewers Tips

Some people receiving this are not regular reviewers of books. Here are some tips.

  • It doesn’t have to be long. Giving the book 5 stars and saying, “It was a fun romp with a cool world and exciting plot.” is fine. Wouldn’t want all the reviews to be that short, but many of my reviewers will probably give it longer ones.
  • Answer the questions:
    • What was your favorite thing about the book? Plot/Story? A Character? The worldbuilding?
    • What was your favorite scene?
    • If the book made you cry, mention why.
    • If it made you laugh give and example.
    • If you can make a clever comparison do so. Like the quote in the blurb “Its Power Puff Girls plus the Jetsons.” Or “Red is like James Bond with a flying saucer”
  • When people are considering a new author or book from someone they’ve never heard of, they want to know things like:
    • Is it any good?
    • Is it boring or fun?
    • Will I like the characters?
    • Is the world in the story interesting and believable?
    • Is it funny, or sad. Dramatic or comic?
    • Mostly, am I going to regret reading this?
